Barcelona - CoreGRID WP7 Meeting
My (very) short visit to Barcelona and UPC (Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya) for the CoreGRID WP7 meeting ended on Wednesday morning when I came back to London. The meeting was quite productive and most of the presentations generated some discussion. Have a look at my presentation.

For me it was a very fruitfull experience as I have identified some possible collaboration links with other partners, most notably INRIA where I may spend a couple of weeks in autumn to see what Denis Caromel and his group are doing.

On Monday afternoon, we visited the supercomputing center of Barcelona, where the world’s 4th most powerfull supercomputer is hosted. “Mare Nostrum” peaks at 40 teraflops per second (!), has 4564 IBM Power PC processors and 9 terabytes of main memory…

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to see Barcelona apart from Tuesday night when we went out around La Rambla -a very popular place in the center of the city. There is still Gaudi’s “Sagrada Familia” and the Camp Nou to be seen (and most probably other places too, that I am not aware of…)

I may go back there for the WP4 meeting as well, which is in mid-July. I hope I will have more time then to see more of the city.
