Globus Toolkit 4.0 (OGSA/WSRF) now out
Of course this is not really new, as the Globus Toolkit v 4.0 was released around the end of April / begining of May -i.e. more than amonth ago… But only yesterday did I managed to download it…

GT GT4 now follows the OGSA/WSRF set of specifications as OGSI was widely critisized by the Web Services community. For some time now, there have been efforts for convergence between Web and Grid services. More details on this issue later this week.

With the previous versions of GT, things were quite complicated and even if just a small part of the required software was in a different version than the one recommended from GT, then everything could become unstable!

But, chances are that GT4 is much more stable and as I read in a short interview of Ian Foster, it’s the first time that the Globus Alliance can confidently say that GT is ready for the enterprise -meaning that the code quality is actually high this time.

Not much time now to install and “play” with it but hopefully end of next week… Any tips and tricks from people that have tried to install are more than welcomed!
