A is for Atheism: The Out Campaign
image I recently decided to join in the Out Campaign initiated by (who else?) Richard Dawkins. Well, technically it is not really “joining”. Instead I merely add a big red A letter (a Scarlet Letter) somewhere on my sidebar and that’s it. And what does this big red A letter do? For once, it shows where I stand in related issues. Then, it allows other atheists to quickly find people with similar ideas.

Quoting from the Out Campaign site:
Atheists have always been at the forefront of rational thinking and beacons of enlightenment, and now you can share your idealism by being part of the OUT Campaign.
This pretty much sums up the purpose of the Out Campaign: to raise awareness about atheism, and to bring together people sharing the same ideas and rational thinking. The Out Campaign is not about organizing people to attack religion in numbers! It is about letting people know that being an atheist is an option. It is about letting people know that discrimination against atheists must not be tolerated. Indeed in supposedly secular nations (read: USA) such discrimination has reached very high levels and atheists are thought to be devils minions, devoid of morality. It is not about imposing atheism on other people! In fact it is exactly the opposite: to resist dogmatic people wishing to impose their beliefs on others by means of propaganda, brainwashing, lying, and unacceptable methods to infiltrate the educational and political system.
It is time to let our voices be heard regarding the intrusion of religion in our schools and politics.
That’s what the Out Campaign is about. If you agree with such ideas then perhaps you should consider joining in as well. The point is: this is your choice and no one else’s.

Good idea but
a) you can’t search for it, it might be better as text.
b) :( it’s pretty ugly. Surely there some stylish atheists amongst us that can do a better job for an icon.
