Children of men
I got the chance to see “Children of Men” last week at the Princes Charles Cinema, and it really impressed me! The movie is set in the near future (2027 to be more specific), when a defect has left all women on earth infertile! The population is aging fast and the world has become a violent nationalist place to live.

The British government has closed their borders to everyone and arrest, torture and eventually kill every foreigner in the country. Street fights between security forces and guerrilla parties is an everyday thing.

The story evolves around Theo (Clive Owen), who tries to escort to safety a young lady that somehow has conceived a baby, so that scientists can try to save the mankind from extinction. Some very raw scenes of war, terrorism and collisions are shown so it might not be easy on the faint hearted… The meaning of the movie is exposed when a whole battlefield ceases fire and the soldiers shell-shocked watch as the mother with her crying baby walks across them…
