I know everyone is doing top 5s and top 10s, but this is my list of the worst ever bands and artists. Most of my close friends already know about this very special selection of mine so they won’t be surprised.

So here we go:

5. Def Leppard
4. Aerosmith
3. Scorpions
2. Guns ‘N’ Roses
1. Bon Jovi

An extended version would also probably include Van Halen, Mr Big and maybe some others as well -too many to remember… Do you see a pattern here?

As you have probably noticed, most of those “artists” come from the god forsaken era of the eighties -arguably the worst period in rock music! “Bad boy” looks with long hair, static guitars, pretentious or just plain bad lyrics and so on…

Thankfully -and probably because of the decadence rock music had gone into, other artists were inspired to slowly create new movements and help regenerate rock music. Hence, the rise of some more guitar based post punk groups, post-rock, shoegazer and dark wave as well as the spread of electronica. And Pixies who single-handedly resurrected alternative rock music from its ashes. Oh, and Sonic Youth of course…

I do expect a lot of complaints and arguments about this list so this should be fun!
