Yesterday, Wednesday, I visited the British Museum
where there is an exhibition on Michelangelo
’s drawings. Awesome!
As cleverly noted in the exhibition booklet: “Drawing is the thread that connects Michelangelo’s work as a sculptor, painter and architect
“. He had countless drawings although destroyed most of his working/draft drawings before he died so that he wouldn’t appear less divine
than people though of him…
The exhibition progresses chronologically starting from his early years in Florence
, then moves on to the Battle of Cascina
, the Sistine Chapel
, the Medici Chapel
and the Last Judgement
before closing with his final years and projects…
The exhibition runs till the 25th of June so there is plenty of time to visit and it is definitely worth it!
